Best-Selling Author, International Speaker, Top Finance Expert

We have two guests today, Mary Buffett and Chloe Lin.

And this is the 60th episode and the first anniversary of Talking Billions, a very special conversation to celebrate what has been a wonderful journey of discovery, learning, and growth. So many lessons, so many new and old friends on the show, and so many of you listeners not only diligently listening to all episodes, but even more so reaching out and sharing your worries, successes, challenges and stories with me. Thank you!

Back to our guests.

Mary Buffett is a best-selling author, international speaker, entrepreneur, political and environmental activist.

Chloe Lin is an international speaker, investor, and president of Buffett Online School in Japan.

Chloe and I recorded an interview a few months ago, and she was kind enough to arrange this conversation spanning three time zone, and all the way around the globe.

Ms. Buffett’s first book Buffettology, co-written with David Clark in 1997, was an immediate New York Times and Business Week best-seller. Since that time, all seven of Ms. Buffett’s books have been best-sellers.

Ms. Buffett appears regularly on television as one of the top finance experts in America including CNN Business News, CNBC’s Squawk Box, Power Lunch with Bill Griffith, Bloomberg News, Fox Business News, MSNBC’s Headliners and Legends and BBC News.

She has appeared around the world as a principal speaker at some of the world’s most prestigious organizations, including the Get Motivated seminar series.

Ms. Buffett has worked successfully in a wide range of businesses including extensive work as a consultant to a number of Fortune 500 companies including AOL Time Warner, as an executive at Columbia Records and as co-founder or her own music and editorial post-production companies, Independent Sound and Superior Assembly, working with many of the music industry’s biggest stars. She has also taught Business and Finance at several California State Universities, including UCLA.

Mary is the proud mother of three successful children and lives in California.

Mary’s book Buffettology has had a big influence on me early on in my career, and I’ve gone back to it over the years. It’s a great study of Warren Buffett’s investment approach.

She is also one of the fast-growing content creators on TikTok with more than 200,000 followers for her channel Arigato Investor.

Today, we have a lively discussion about Mary’s earlier experience with investing. She shares stories of Warren Buffett gifting stocks to family members for Christmas and lessons from the experience.
